The official places in Vice City

Rockstar describes Vice City as the city where America's glamour, hustle and greed come together. The studio also names a handful of neighborhoods and places. Most of them appear on the official GTA VI website, some in the contents of the pre-order bonuses and the Ultimate Edition.

Ocean Beach and Shore Drive

Pastel Art Deco hotels and bright white sand: that is how Rockstar introduces Ocean Beach. Shore Drive fits right in, and Rockstar mentions it twice. It is the road for the classic car from the Vintage Vice City Pack, and the '95 Grotti Cheetah of the Ultimate Edition is dedicated to it. A stone's throw from the beach is the Shore Court garage, with a gun locker and storage for stolen goods. It is part of the Vintage Vice City Pack that comes with every pre-order.

In our view, the real-world model is Miami Beach. Its Art Deco district around Ocean Drive, Collins Avenue and Washington Avenue holds about 800 historic buildings, most of them from the 1930s and 1940s. In 1979 the district was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Shore Drive is most likely a nod to Ocean Drive. That is our reading, not Rockstar's.

Little Cuba

In Little Cuba, Rockstar says, busy panaderías line up one after another, Cuban bakeries. In our view, the real-world model is Little Havana: after the Cuban Revolution, more than 250,000 Cubans came to South Florida between 1959 and 1962, many of them to this neighborhood. To this day, Calle Ocho, cafés with ventanitas (walk-up windows for a cafecito) and bakeries define the area. In the Vice City of 2002, by the way, it was still simply called Little Havana.

Tisha Wocka flea market

At the Tisha Wocka flea market, according to Rockstar, you can get knock-off designer goods. The name sounds like Opa-locka, a city in the Miami metro area. Whether Rockstar is hinting at it is not confirmed.

VC Port

Way out on the water lies VC Port, for Rockstar “the cruise capital of the world.” We read that as a direct reference too: the real PortMiami officially calls itself the “Cruise Capital of the World” and counted around 8.6 million cruise passengers in fiscal year 2025, more than ever before. In the Vice City of 2002 the port district was still called Viceport.

Southside Vice City

Less postcard, more street: Rockstar mentions Southside Vice City in the contents of the Ultimate Edition. It is the turf of one of the loudest gangs in the city, and one of the most active on social media, the PTT Youngin$. With the Ultimate Edition you can raid it, and whoever gets out in one piece takes special gear and contraband along.

More names tied to Vice City

Every place Rockstar has named so far is collected under locations.

Vice City and Miami: what stands for what

Vice City is a fictional city, but in our view clearly built on Miami, just as Leonida is built on Florida. Rockstar has not explicitly equated Vice City with Miami. Its official website calls Vice City “the darkest side of the sunniest place in America,” and according to The New York Times, Rupert Humphries of Rockstar North says the story shows all parts of life in Miami and South Florida. The individual matches below are our reading.

Ocean BeachMiami Beach (South Beach)
Shore DriveOcean Drive
Little CubaLittle Havana
VC PortPortMiami
Leonida KeysFlorida Keys

Where exactly Vice City lies in Leonida, Rockstar has not shown on any official game map yet. If Miami is the model, the city probably sits on the state's southeast coast, and the Leonida Keys most likely continue to the south.

Who runs Vice City

So far, the club and music scene of Vice City revolves around three official names:

And Jason and Lucia? According to Rockstar, the two leads end up “on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America” when an easy score goes wrong, in the middle of a conspiracy that stretches across all of Leonida. Lucia wants the good life her mother already dreamed of back in Liberty City. Jason most recently worked for drug smugglers in the Keys. What Rockstar says about the characters introduced so far is on the characters page.

What Rockstar has shown of Vice City so far

On the official website, Rockstar shows Vice City in a series of scenes: the skyline at night with a Ferris wheel, beachgoers around a lifeguard tower, dirt bikes and quads pulling stunts in the middle of traffic, a basketball court between palm trees, a packed strip club and an arrest where a passerby takes a selfie. The message is clear: lots of sun, lots of show, and social media everywhere.

The Extended Look of August 27, 2026 showed it as gameplay for the first time, 26 minutes long and captured entirely on PS5. Several reports consistently mention packed nightclubs with dense crowds, e-scooters, jet skis, basketball, a gym and street races.

Vice City then and now

GTA 6 is already the series' fourth visit to Vice City:

Rockstar says it itself: the '80s are long gone, but Vice City is still America's capital of sun and fun. GTA 6 is set in the present day. There are still a few nods to the original. Ocean Beach is back, and in one official image Jason and Lucia stand in front of the Ocean View Hotel, Tommy Vercetti's first hideout from 2002. Washington Beach shows up, the weapon skin in the Vintage Vice City Pack is inspired by Tommy Vercetti's famous palm-tree shirt, according to Rockstar, and the revolvers of the Ultimate Edition come from the Vercetti Estate. All eight references are listed under Easter eggs. What each edition includes is in the GTA 6 pre-order guide.

Frequently asked questions about Vice City

Which Vice City neighborhoods are officially confirmed?

Rockstar names Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, the Tisha Wocka flea market and VC Port, plus Southside Vice City and Shore Drive. Washington Beach and Stockyard also appear, but their exact location is still open.

Is Vice City in GTA 6 Miami?

Vice City is a fictional city. In our view it is clearly modeled on Miami, just as Leonida is modeled on Florida, and many places have a real-world counterpart: Ocean Beach stands for Miami Beach, Little Cuba for Little Havana and VC Port for PortMiami. Rockstar itself has not explicitly equated Vice City with Miami, but according to The New York Times, Rupert Humphries of Rockstar North says the story shows all parts of life in Miami and South Florida.

Where is Vice City in Leonida?

Rockstar has not published an official game map yet. If Miami is the model, Vice City probably lies on the state's southeast coast. Until release, our preview map shows the real geography as a placeholder.

How big is Vice City in GTA 6?

Rockstar has not given an area. According to reports on conversations with Rockstar North, Vice City alone is about twice the size of Los Santos from GTA 5 (as of October 25, 2026). Figures in square miles circulating online are fan estimates. The game world reaches far beyond the city, from the Leonida Keys to Mount Kalaga. How big the whole map is: see regions.

Does the whole story take place in Vice City?

No. According to Rockstar, Jason and Lucia get caught up in a conspiracy that stretches across all of Leonida. Vice City is the center, joined by the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia and Mount Kalaga.

Has Vice City appeared in earlier GTA games?

Yes, three times: in GTA (1997), in GTA: Vice City (2002, set in 1986) and in GTA: Vice City Stories (2006, set in 1984). GTA 6 is the first visit in the present day.

Can you already see Vice City on the map?

Yes, as a preview: our map shows Vice City down to street level, based on the real geography of Miami. After the release on November 19, 2026 we'll add locations verified in the game step by step.
