2. Applicable law
findleonida.com is an independent, unofficial fan project run by a private individual based in Switzerland. The site is also available to visitors from other countries. The Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) therefore applies, and — for users in the EU — the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Personal data is only processed where this is necessary to provide the website, where it is based on our legitimate interest (sections 3 and 9) or where you have given your consent.
3. Hosting and server log files
This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc., 101 2nd Street, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA. When you visit the website, the host processes technically necessary access data that your browser transmits, in particular:
- IP address
- date and time of access
- page/file requested
- browser and operating system used
- referrer URL
This data is used to deliver the website and keep it stable and secure. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure operation); under Swiss law, processing is based on the overriding private interest in the secure operation of the website. The retention period follows the host's policies. Because Netlify is based in the USA, data may be transferred to the USA; Netlify states that it participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and uses standard contractual clauses. More at netlify.com/privacy and netlify.com/gdpr-ccpa.
“Report a find” form
Via findleonida.com/en/report-a-find/ you can report a location or an error to us. Your entries (place name, category, region, description, and optionally grid square, source, a screenshot, a nickname and an email address in case we have questions) are received and stored by Netlify's form service (Netlify Forms); Netlify also processes your IP address for spam protection. We use the details only to check the report, correct or extend the map and get back to you if needed. We publish your nickname and screenshot only if you explicitly allow this in the form. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time by emailing contact@findleonida.com. We delete the report at Netlify as soon as it has been checked and either added or rejected, and at the latest after twelve months. All fields except place name and description are optional.
4. Consent, cookie notice and withdrawal
On your first visit, a notice appears where you can agree to audience measurement
(“Accept”) or decline it (“Essential only”). Your decision is stored locally
in your browser under the key cookieConsent. If you agree, this consent is reported
once as an event to Google Analytics; a refusal is not transmitted.
As long as you have not agreed, no measurement service is loaded. Before your decision, the website does not embed any Google script and does not connect to Google servers — so no measurement data and no IP address is sent to Google. If you decline, it stays that way.
If you agree, the Google tag is loaded and only analytics_storage is enabled. The
advertising signals of Google Consent Mode (ad_storage, ad_user_data,
ad_personalization) remain denied; ad banners from advertising networks such as Google
AdSense are currently not served on this website.
You can change or withdraw your decision at any time with effect for the future: via the link Cookie settings in the footer of every page or by deleting the site data in your browser. Withdrawing stops the transmission immediately; from the next page view on, the Google tag is not loaded at all.
5. Audience measurement with Google Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID
G-2REQ9FEVT7), a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street,
Dublin 4, Ireland. Its purpose is to measure usage (e.g. pages viewed, time on site,
approximate origin) in order to improve the site.
We also record how the map and the pages are used: for example filters used, the length (not the content) of a search, markers opened and marker or region links followed, checking off a location (marker ID and status), the number of entries when exporting and importing, copied marker links, use of the download calculator, videos started, and clicks on buttons and external links.
The Google tag is only loaded after you have explicitly agreed. Before that,
there is no contact with Google: no script request, no measurement signals, no transmission of your
IP address. Only after your consent are cookies or comparable identifiers set or read and usage
statistics derived from them. The tag is passed the anonymize_ip parameter.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TDDDG (German
Telecommunications-Digital-Services Data Protection Act) (consent); under Swiss law, your consent. If
you withdraw, the opt-out provided by Google (ga-disable) is also set, so that even an
already loaded instance no longer transmits anything.
After your consent, data may also be transferred to Google LLC in the USA. The data is stored in Google Analytics with a retention period of 14 months; resetting this period on new activity is disabled. More about data processing by Google at policies.google.com/privacy.
6. Google Search Console
To monitor visibility in Google Search, we use Google Search Console. No additional code is embedded on this website for this purpose; we only see aggregated reports on which search queries lead to the website. We cannot identify individual people from this.
7. Storage on your device
This website stores the following data in your browser's local storage. The storage itself stays on your device and is not transmitted to us or third parties:
cookieConsent– your decision on the cookie noticegta6karte_progress_v1– the locations you have checked off on the mapgta6karte_hide_found_v1– whether checked-off locations are hidden on the mapgta6karte_release_check_v1– the items you have checked off on the release checklist in the preload guidegta6karte_preview_note_v1– that you have closed the preview-map noticegta6karte_theme,gta6karte_theme_set– the color scheme you have chosen
If you have agreed to audience measurement, the map additionally reports individual actions to Google Analytics, for example checking off a location with marker ID and status (see section 5).
In addition, a service worker stores files of this website (e.g. map, fonts, scripts) in an offline cache in your browser so that the site remains usable without a connection. This storage serves the service you have explicitly requested and is therefore exempt from consent under § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG. You can delete all of the data mentioned at any time via your browser settings.
8. YouTube videos (two-click solution)
On this website we embed official GTA 6 trailers from YouTube, a service of Google Ireland Limited. For privacy reasons we use a two-click solution: when the page loads, only a preview without any connection to YouTube is shown. No data is transmitted to YouTube or Google as long as you do not actively start the video by clicking.
Only when you click a video is it loaded in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Your browser then connects to Google's servers, and your IP address and possibly further data may be transmitted. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent by active click). More information is in Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
9. Advertising and affiliate links
This website currently serves no ad banners from advertising networks (such as Google AdSense). No advertising scripts are embedded and no advertising cookies are set.
Some links to retailers are affiliate links through the Awin affiliate network of AWIN AG, Berlin. They are marked as ads, either at the link itself or on the box that contains them. If you buy from the retailer after clicking such a link, we earn a commission. The price does not change for you. Links without this marking are unpaid references.
Affiliate links are ordinary links. We embed no scripts, pixels or cookies from Awin or the retailers for them, fetch no live prices, and do not select a country based on your IP address. Only when you click an affiliate link do you leave this website: your browser first calls a server of Awin and is redirected from there to the retailer. In the process, Awin and the retailer process technical details such as IP address, time, browser data, our partner ID and an identifier of the offer clicked. They may use cookies or comparable identifiers to attribute a purchase to our referral. Awin and the respective retailer are responsible for this; their privacy notices apply, for Awin the notice for end users.
We do not learn who you are: Awin reports clicks and purchases to us without details that identify you, for example date, basket value and commission. The legal basis for offering the affiliate links is our legitimate interest in funding this free site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Our own measurement of a click only takes place with your analytics consent as described in section 5; it does not record a purchase.
10. External links
This website links to third-party sites (e.g. stores, manufacturer and news sites). We have no influence on their data processing; the privacy notices of the respective providers apply.
11. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection; you can withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future. Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection you have in particular the right of access, rectification and erasure, as well as to receive or transfer your data.
Right to object: Where we process data on the basis of our legitimate interest (sections 3 and 9, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), you can object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21(1) GDPR). An informal message to the email address above is enough.
To exercise your rights, an informal message to the email address above is enough. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Switzerland with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), in the EU with the data protection authority responsible for you.
12. Changes to this policy
We reserve the right to adapt this privacy policy so that it always meets current legal requirements or to reflect changes to this website. The version published on this page applies.
