What Rockstar says about Ambrosia
Rockstar opens Ambrosia with a big line: “The battle for the health and wealth of Leonida begins here.” In the heart of the state, American industry and old-fashioned values still rule, whatever the cost. The Allied Crystal sugar refinery provides the jobs, the local biker gang pretty much everything else.
The play on “health and wealth” fits: sugar makes money and ruins health. And in Greek mythology, ambrosia is the food of the gods, something very sweet. Both are our reading; Rockstar does not explain the name.
What the official images show
Five official images show Ambrosia:
- Skyline with smokestacks: Night, smokestacks smoking in the distance, presumably those of the refinery.
- Biker gang: A motorcycle gang in matching leather vests rides down the road together.
- Gun in arm: A woman hugs a man from behind, showing her pistol as she does.
- Burning field: A field in flames at sunset.
- Bikini car wash: A man sits at the wheel while several women in bikinis wash his car.
The burning field is the most interesting detail, because it has a real-world model.
Ambrosia in real life: what stands for what
Rockstar has not explicitly equated Ambrosia with a real place. But sugar, a refinery and burning fields in the heart of the state point clearly to one place: the sugar country around Lake Okeechobee. The match is our reading.

Clewiston on the lake's southwest shore, home of U.S. Sugar, calls itself “America's Sweetest Town.” And the fires are real: to get rid of the leaves before harvest, the fields are burned. The ash that then rains down on towns like Belle Glade is called “black snow” by residents. The name Allied Crystal also recalls Florida Crystals, one of the big sugar producers on the lake's south shore.
Is Ambrosia on Lake Leonida?
Online you often read that Ambrosia lies on “Lake Leonida.” That has not been officially confirmed. Rockstar mentions Lake Leonida exactly once: it is where One-Eyed Willie's Mod Shop from the Ultimate Edition stands, a workshop for off-road builds and hand-painted liveries. More on the workshops under vehicles. Whether Lake Leonida is a lake, a town or both, and where it is, Rockstar does not say. On our preview map Ambrosia sits on Lake Okeechobee, because that is where we assume its model. That is an estimate.
What you can do in Ambrosia
Rockstar has not named any specific activities for Ambrosia yet. The images show a biker gang on the road, a car wash and nights in the glow of industry. Which of that is playable remains to be seen. We'll add it here as soon as it is confirmed.
