Store listing
How reliable is this time? It comes from store listings, not from a Rockstar announcement. Rockstar has officially named only the date. The Xbox Store names only the date, no time. Check your own PlayStation or Xbox Store listing. As soon as Rockstar confirms times, we will update this page.

According to Rockstar, the retail box contains only a download code and no disc. It goes on sale on November 12 so you can preload; you still cannot play until the game unlocks. How many days are left is shown by the countdown: How many days until GTA 6 comes out?
Why your unlock time could differ
The PlayStation Store lists GTA 6 store region by store region at midnight: the US store at 12:00 AM ET, the UK store at 12:00 AM GMT. Rockstar has not officially confirmed this. Inside the US store, the time follows Eastern Time, so on the West Coast it is still the evening of November 18. If midnight applies everywhere, New Zealand and Australia will be many hours ahead of Europe and the Americas. As soon as Rockstar or the stores clear this up, we will add it here.
About the “New Zealand trick”: media reports say that on Xbox you can start earlier by changing the console region; on PS5 this does not work. It is not confirmed for GTA 6, and Rockstar can lock online features until the regular launch. We do not recommend the trick; if you try it, you do so at your own risk.
Preload: when can you download GTA 6?
According to Rockstar Support, preload starts seven days before release at midnight local time, so on November 12, 2026. That applies to digital pre-orders and to codes from the box that you redeem beforehand. The game stays locked until the unlock. You can play only once it has unlocked in your store and finished installing; preloading does not guarantee a specific time. There is no official download size yet. Editions and bonuses are in the GTA 6 pre-order guide.

Download calculator: how long will GTA 6 take to download?
Since the size is not known yet, you can set it yourself here. The calculator runs entirely in your browser.
Formula: size × 8 ÷ speed, plus about 10% headroom, because connections rarely deliver full speed the whole time.
